Bodies drained, round the fire
Full of rage and burning desire
Night awakens, beasts to roam
Another pair of eyes do show
Steps of power shake the land
Filthy claws rip bone and man
Look, says my companion
Out of the forest, the monster comes
Mogollon Monster
Chases me through
Mogollon Monster
Bone and tissue
Eight feet tall,
The wailing call,
Mogollon Monster
Destroys us all
Killers after us since Texas
Ran the river, rode the rails
The beast, takes hold a gangster
And grinds claws ‘til they’re mangled
Crazy Horse draws his bow
And calls out to the monster
Fires one into his chest
As it tears out all the rest
Mogollon Monster
Chases me through
Mogollon Monster
Bone and tissue
Eight feet tall,
The wailing call,
Mogollon Monster
Destroys us all
Face down, ass in mud
Monster draws close toward us
A final shot into his throat
The beast retreats, his eyes awoke
Break for mountains, understand
We go free, to Oregon land
The final stop until our goal
Impeded by a behemoth roar
Mogollon Monster
Chases me through
Mogollon Monster
Calls out to you
Eight feet tall,
The wailing call,
Mogollon Monster
Controls us all

I come to the free lands
Not to visit but to understand
How I can fit in with a brand
Strap yourself to the mountain heap
Take with the day the kind you keep
And remember the feeling you lived
All you know
Is just sitting in between
Breaks with the soul
The mind feels nothing
The sky is just a picture to me
My heart is on a TV screen
Everything is just a game
Staring blind, the cement ties
Takes me back where my home lies
In a town with the hill on the right
All you know
Is just sitting in between
Breaks with the soul
The mind feels nothing

We’ve got our horse and we’ve got our gun
We’ve got quite no where else to run
Til they get here, we’ve got a few hours
The sun sets and no light will shower
Set up camp, take a whiff
My head still hurts and my knees are stiff
My close companion looks to me
And says “kid take in all you see”
The desert sun breaks my eyes
But I can see our end in sight
Texas behind, Oregon ahead
Crazy Horse and I for dead
In the dust bowl, barely make it through
Walk on in to that ole saloon
Get a whiskey and a room
I’d like to dedicate this one to you
States underfoot pass me by,
Like the roads before him
Another wound here, another to die
The lives and towns blend within
The desert sun breaks my eyes
But I can see our end in sight
Texas behind, Oregon ahead
Crazy Horse and I for dead
The bringers of aggression
The bringers of aggression
The bringers of aggression
The bringers of aggression
The bringers of aggression
The bringers of aggression
The bringers of aggression
The bringers of aggression

Trees and pueblos all around me
Sun shines through my traincar clearly
Nothing’s left back there for me now
Wife and child, farm’s in shambles
Oh, I must escape
Oh I can’t wait
To reach that sacred place
And do with it what I will
I’m just lonely, Without comfort
Pueblos demand, Sacrifices
I heed their call, knowing they’re all
After me without a gun
Oh, I must escape
Oh I can’t wait
To reach that sacred place
And do with it what I will
Trav’ling westward, searching blindly
I’d like to get some helpful guiding
Shall I head back to A B Q ?
Maybe there’ll be a helpful few

Well I've been riding on the trail
I got a thousand pounds of hell
I've been riding on the trail
I got a thousand pounds of hell
If I keep on going
I might as well get a thrill
Yeah the passes are tight
And the snow is pounding on the wagon
Yeah the passes are tight
And the snow is pounding on the wagon
If I keep on going
You know I'm gonna do me some shaggin'
Yeah the price is risin'
And the dollars keep gettin' short
Yeah the price is risin' babe
And the dollars keep a-gettin' short
Babe it's been a long time, been a long time
Back to Blaine County Port
C'mon now
Let's go on back down now
Get it low now, get it low now
Get it low now Landry
Well we went on down the trail
I didn't find my baby there
I went on down the trail
I didn't find my baby there
Well I'll keep lookin' 'round
And I know she's here somewhere
Play one now Shyan!
Well I passed the Donner Party
And they was havin' lunch
Yeah I passed the Donner Party
And they was havin' lunch
Yeah I don't know much babe
I believe I have a hunch

The KUBES quartet breaks out into central Texas for the first time.
Featuring the live debut of keyboardist Shyan Mahmoodi, and the debut of several new songs, this show is a heater on a very cold night. The quartet made the journey south for the gig and played with three local groups at the East Austin venue Delilah's Front Porch. This setlist includes several modern psychedelic covers, as opposed to the usual oldies, and all new arrangements of the setlist to include the keyboard and synthesizer sounds of Shyan.
THE ALBUM:
Live multi-tracked in 24-bit resolution, this blistering set is captured in pristine clarity that highlights each musician within the group. The tight setup onstage (seen in the cover photo) made for an intimate sound for many first-time viewers of The Kubes. Reveling in the show, the boys capped off the night with a visit to the local Crown and Anchor pub with recordings in tow.
THE SONGS:
Selected by the quartet to showcase the new format of the band, these tunes benefit greatly from the inclusion of a fourth Kube. It's safe to say Shyan is here to stay, as he is as comfortable in the studio as he is onstage. The setlist was chosen with keyboard-heavy tunes in mind, or especially ones that would benefit from the addition. The Kube machine always keeps moving, and with it comes new songs.
"ALLUDA MAJAKA"
A King Gizzard instrumental, this tune is a highlight for the keyboard, with a growling lead part. The three other Kubes back up and trade licks with one another, making for a fiery jam to open the show behind "EVAN FINDS".
"MOGOLLON"
This new original is a live debut here, following the journey of one BUFFALO MAC, the latest Kubes studio project. Heavy metal Kubes brings the energy here in full force with a great drum break by Landry, showcasing some new songwriting styles.
"BREAKS WITH THE SOUL"
Live debut of Travis' leadoff song from his latest solo album 'THE KOOTENAY TAPES', released this past December. Listen for jazzy interplay between the guitar and keyboard as the rhythm section sets the pace. A great mellow tone to display the dynamics of the new quartet.
"T.B.O.A."
Each Kubes studio album has its lengthy composed suite; 'With The Kubes' has "Desert of the Real", 'Discovery One' has its title track, 'In To The Outside' has "Move On". This tune will be the latest successor in these series of songs. Constructed in pieces to write an intricate unison part, "Texas Behind, Oregon Ahead" is a vocal and instrumental powerhouse, requiring every part functioning as necessary.
"OREGON TRAIL BOOGIE"
The classic Kubes original is brought new life by the quartet in this closing take. There's a great improvised verse by Travis, and a careening solo by Shyan. Listen for Spencer taking the Albert King "The Hunter" riff to the forefront of the jam. Take the long way to the trail and end out the set with an energetic display of blues boogie.
