Running after you Chasing what is true There's nothing like the night To come and sacrifice What is given away One just cannot say Why I'm gone tomorrow And why I'm here today Can't you see there's more to show Than what we might already know Can't you tell it ain't for good Your mama didn't tell you That we're all misunderstood Forty-first and main Put 'em all to shame Always near and high And out of sight You turned me on What else could go wrong But it turns out I'm not the one you want Can't you see there's more to show Than what we might already know Can't you tell it ain't for good Your mama didn't tell you That we're all misunderstood

Mean Streets 04:25
Here I go now To the mean streets Only time I’m out there I find my reason to be Going down slow A metro ride’s away I can’t feel the wind blow But I can see the highway Car exhaust and fresh air Eight miles wide Quarter tank’ll get me there Eight lanes high Truck stops when I say so Or until sunrise I’m on my way to Reno No free rides Hundred miles per hour Speed I drive I just passed 304 And there's no cop in sight Two A.M. on a Friday night And I'm heading southbound I barely made it into Austin Before my mind broke down

Oh but I will not chase you, Up and down the street When I saw you, movin’ down that lonesome road When I saw you, driving past that wicked road But I did not think you had any place to go You know I gotta get a move on Like a freight train goin’ down the track You know I gotta get a move on Before she come back I’m goin’ where the sun do not shine I’m goin’ where the sun do not shine I’m goin’ —— Where the sun Do not shine When I see the engine coming Smokestack reminds me of you When I see the engine coming Smokestack reminds me of you If it weren’t for this woman I’d be coming too You know I gotta get a move on Like a freight train goin’ down the line You know I gotta get a move on Before my baby come back I’m goin’ I’m goin’ where the sun do not shine I’m goin’ I’m goin’ where the sun do not shine I’m goin’ —— Where the sun Do not shine How long have I known you babe? You know it can’t be long How long have I known you babe? You know it can’t be long You’ll get up one morning And down the road I’m gone
7.
When you find yourself in trouble For the crime of medication You can call the man on billboard For the hopes of cheap elation When the men are all around you But they're blended with the night You can try to act quickly or You can get out of sight You may search and ponder For the answers to your problems But you know in your mind They'll all come back tomorrow Hear my call on the telephone Would you like to leave a name Sunset soon is calling Don't forget the moon estate Rommel on the back porch He's barking to the sky I can see the clock move But I don't know the time You may search and ponder For the answers to your problems But you know in your mind They'll all come back tomorrow You may search and ponder For the answers to your problems But you know in your mind They'll all come back tomorrow

I know, I know You’re a part of me Until, until ‘til I had to leave Surrounded, all sides By the metro man Wish I, Wish I I could take the tram If I could see What you’re doing now I would know I Can’t go home now Surrounded, future Seems to fade fast If I could, I would Keep the green grass I know, I know Nothing's here for free Until, until ‘til I had to leave If I could see What you’re doing now I would know Can’t go home now To see love, hear love Is the key to all Without you, Out you Counties will surely fall I know, I know You’re a part of me Until, until ‘til I had to leave

Well it’s hotter than hell as the weatherman says tonight Can’t be tripping I can’t put up no fight Coming to me like a no-good ball in a jack Sweating out here we can’t get breezin’ back Talk to my baby like she been mean Ain’t nothing I do gonna beat the heat Mama who loves me got AC in the back Oh mama who loves me got AC in the back Baby who need me got her window cracked She ain’t got, got no HVAC Catching a ride, gone on home Back to the land of Climate Control Summertime’s here and I can’t see a thing Sun do shine, working on my backswing Trouble with me is I got too much on my mind Can’t walk straight, I can’t pay no time Working all day 'til I’m red in the face I’m writing my will now just in case Texas sun shinin' down on me See no clouds, but I got a shady tree Watch that Burlington Northern, come down the way Heading westbound on down to Santa Fe A hundred and nine when I went outside Had freeze the grass just to keep it from frying

The summer heat blisters today But these fields take my troubles away Living in this world alone Got nobody to call my own So I'll stand out in the rain Waiting for you to call my name Got nobody to call my own Why don't you call my phone Well I don't need to worry, about everything I'm not in a hurry, to do anything I work all day and all night, just to keep myself and you satisfied But until she calls my name, I'll just sing on towards the sky Some days feel long and some go on by fast The weeks turn into years, but the years never last One day I'll be gone, but until that day comes I'll be singing my song, waiting to go where I'm from Best keep comin' on Baby stay out of my way

--THE ALBUM--

'Outside' brings the finest in sonic clarity and the latest in studio advancements. The studio tunes showcase the Kubes' advanced songwriting and recording abilities, while maintaining the live-recorded-in-studio vibe. The live tracks from Denton show how the trio can play just as ferociously on the stage as they do in the studio.

- 10 all-new Kubes songs recorded at the Jam House Records Studio A in Fort Worth, Texas and Studio B in Austin, Texas.

- 5 multitrack live recordings from The Kubes' performances in June and September 2022 at the Howling Mutt Brewery in Denton, Texas.

- 8 bonus tracks including more live cuts, demos and alternate studio versions.

--IN THE STUDIO--

"WE'RE ALL MISUNDERSTOOD" - This track is the pinnacle of this album's theme and the center of this album's production - all three Kubes playing live together. Showcasing the trio's songwriting skill, this song magnifies the classic Kubes sound of guitar, bass, and drums.

"I'M A MAN" - This Bo Diddley song puts you right in the studio with the Kubes. Recorded all at once, the blues feel here is loose and free with hard rocking from the rhythm section. Listen for the harmonica blowing with the guitar.

"MEAN STREETS" - This track evokes the open road on I-35 Southbound. With a lyric to fit, this one bends into an acidic psych-rocking jam with many layered and distorted instruments.

"SEARCH AND PONDER" - A lowdown style chart with Spencer's lyrics and vocal about self-discovery. Listen for organ and strings during the electric guitar solo bringing the song to its peak.

"GRASSLAND HEAT" - Recorded in Austin with bassist Jackson Bellard, this jump blues number shows the group riding the groove together. Hear Spencer on the harp, playing blues with a feeling.

--LIVE AT THE HOWLING MUTT--

"CALL OF THE VOID - LIVE" - One of three live tracks from The Kubes' set at the Howling Mutt Brewery on 9/24/22. This instrumental jam is underscored by pounding drums and booming bass guitar, while the electric guitar screeches over the top.

"MOJA KNOWS - LIVE" - This Discovery One track has been morphed into a broad live jam where the band trades solos and grooves to the maximum. Travis and Spencer finally put their strings to use and let it all hang down.

"IN TO THE OUTSIDE - LIVE" - Finishing the album where it began almost a year later, this live recording captures the first time this song was ever performed live in front of an audience. Slide guitar and strong vocals from Travis and Spencer make this adaptation worthy of its inclusion on this album.

And more....

--BONUS TRACKS--

"BABY WHAT YOU WANT ME TO DO - STUDIO VERSION" - Taken from the same session as "Grassland Heat" and "You're A Part Of Me" at Studio B in Austin, this tune features Jackson Bellard on bass once again and Spencer on the blues harp.

"IN TO THE OUTSIDE - EARLY MIX" - 'Outside' was the first song recorded for the album, prior to the release of Discovery One all the way back in November 2021. Shown here in a more raw state, the song gives an electronic feel to the boogie groove.

"WE'RE ALL MISUNDERSTOOD - TAKE 1 / EXTENDED" - An alternate take of 'Misunderstood' takes the ending jam to more spaced-out height, different than the album version. This track shows the trio play the song during construction in its final state, as it was the second-to-last track recorded for the album.

And more....
