1.
That back water done rolled, tumbled down the line Lord that back water rolled and tumbled down the line That brown-skinned woman is the only trouble of mine Maybe I'll go down to Galveston, get some white sand in my shoes Or I'll go down to Brownsville and get some dirt on my shoes Or I'll ride that train to Memphis, get rid of these L.A. blues Yeah I've been ridin' that highway, oh all night long I been cruisin' that highway, most all night long And I'm just listenin' to Lemon, wondering where it all went wrong I went to the station and I looked on the board I went to the station babe, and I looked on the board It says it's good times here, but it's better on down the road If that's your mama, you better tie her to your side Oh if that's your mama, you better tie her to your side 'Cause if she flag my train, I'm sure gonna let her ride
2.
I come home late one night, and you're there with another man You say I'm not good enough baby, but I'm doing the best I can You screamed and you cried and I told him to go He was packing all his bags and he was doing it real slow I pulled out my gun and I put it to his head I told him to say a prayer 'cause he was already dead There's many times we've been alone, and many times we've cried Plenty more shots to take before you, up and die I held her close, and I told her it'd be okay I grabbed my silver .44 and I blew that bitch away The gunshot rang fast and loud, and it was time for me to go I be goin' fast and that 12 be goin' slow
3.
I'm gonna take their money I'm gonna take their life I'm goin' out west, to California's way They won't catch us babe, if we leave today I've got a saddle full of old And a six-shooter on my hip They'll never take me alive And when I shoot I won't miss Hear the buzzards cry Sing on to the desert sky Bodies all around me now Hear the savages and their howl They all surround me Pistols drawn in hand If it weren't for you woman You know I would be a dead man
4.
5.
Well these evil-hearted women No they just won't let me be Well these evil-hearted women No they just won't let me be Ah you tell them one thing And then they lie right through their teeth Well I woke up this morning Ain't seen my baby in so long Well I woke up this morning Ain't seen my baby in so long And when I woke up this morning All I had was gone I been walking all day Ain't got no shoes on my feet I been walking all day Ain't got no shoes on my feet Well it's been so long Since my baby's loving me I hear that train Comin' down the track Well I heard that train Comin' down the track Well I'm gonna leave this town And I ain't never comin' back

about

LIVE KUBES... is back.

This Bandcamp exclusive album features a new 24-bit digital remix of the original 4-track master tapes recorded in March 2020 and a new mono remaster of the entire EP.

THE SONGS:

"TRAIN RIDIN' MAMA" - Kubes blues at its finest. A track that so purely encompasses what the trio does, it has to come first.

"DEATH RIDES A HORSE" - Fierce grooves... Those drums... Part of the failed 'Buffalo Mac' concept album.

"LORD OF THE DESERT" - Another psychedelic Western song with some great playing from Spencer.

"CALL OF THE VOID" - Kubes live staple since 2019. The first of our 'free jazz' improvised instrumentals. Owes many a debt to Coltrane.

"HARD TIME BLUES" - One of the first acoustic blues numbers recorded by Travis and Spencer. A precursor to "35 Highway". Features buttery slide guitar.

Mono versions include tracks 6-10
Remaster sourced from original recordings

All tracks have been remixed and 24-bit remastered at the Jam House Records Studio. Recorded in Fort Worth, Texas. All songs written and arranged by The Kubes.
