5.

7.
When I get off of this mountain You know where I wanna go? Straight down the Mississippi River To the Gulf of Mexico To Lake Charles, Louisiana Little Bessie, girl that I once knew And she told me just to come on by If there's anything she could do Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me If I spring a leak, she mends me I don't have to speak, she defends me A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one Good luck had just stung me To the race track I did go She bet on one horse to win And I bet on another to show Odds were in my favor I had 'em five to one And that nag to win came around the track Sure enough we had won Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me If I spring a leak, she mends me I don't have to speak, she defends me A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one I took up all of my winnings And I gave my little Bessie half And she tore it up and threw it in my face Just for a laugh Now there's one thing in the whole wide world I sure would like to see That's when that little love of mine Dips her doughnut in my tea Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me If I spring a leak, she mends me I don't have to speak, she defends me A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one Now me and my mate were back at the shack We had Spike Jones on the box She said, "I can't take the way he sings But I love to hear him talk" Now that just gave my heart a throb To the bottom of my feet And I swore and I took another pull My Bessie can't be beat Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me If I spring a leak, she mends me I don't have to speak, she defends me A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one There's a flood out in California And up north it's freezing cold And this living off the road Is getting pretty old So I guess I'll call up my big mama Tell her I'll be rolling in But you know, deep down, I'm kinda tempted To go and see my Bessie again Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me If I spring a leak, she mends me I don't have to speak, she defends me A drunkard's dream if I ever did see one

// RECORDED LIVE 10/29/2022 \\

The third release in our 'Kubic Miles' series takes us to The Kubes' yearly Halloween performance, this time in 2022.

--THE ALBUM--

This is an 8-track recording of the two-set show (rare for The Kubes) and is packed with lots of great songs chosen by The Kubes themselves.

--THE SONGS--

The boys start out with a set of originals and then shift into a largely cover set peppered by a few Kubes numbers in between.

Through 13 songs we go from Kube beginnings with "APACHE WOMAN" and "LORD OF THE DESERT" to more contemporary unreleased numbers like "WE'RE ALL MISUNDERSTOOD" and "MY BABE" prior to their release on the 'IN TO THE OUTSIDE' album.

Several highlights here are:

"MYSTERY TRAIN" - A punchy blues number accented by Spencer's harmonica and great accompaniment by Landry's drums

"HALF FULL GLASS OF WINE" - This Tame Impala cover was chosen by Spencer and he gives a great vocal to go with a great jam

"MOON GOING ROUND" - The show's opener kicks off with a great live rendition of the old 'Discovery One' track incl. a great solo by Travis

All tracks have been mixed and 24-bit mastered at the Jam House Records Studio. Recorded live in Saginaw, Texas. Songs written and arranged by the Kubes except;

"My Babe" Written by Willie Dixon
"Mystery Train" Written by Junior Parker, Sam Phillips, and Robbie Robertson
"Up On Cripple Creek" Written by Robbie Robertson
"Half Full Glass of Wine" Written by Kevin Parker (no relation to Junior)
"Call Me The Breeze" Written by J.J. Cale
"Bulls On Parade" Written by Morello/Commeford/Wilk/De La Rocha
